Leadership Convening

AmeriCorps and ASC leadership pose for a photo

We hosted our annual Leadership Convening from February 14-17, 2022. The week included our first in-person board meeting since 2020, virtual and in-person Hill Day visits, meetings for grantees of the Mott Foundation and Schultz Family Foundation, and two days of hybrid programming for commission leadership. AmeriCorps Week

AmeriThanks to all Americans who wear the AmeriCorps A and make a difference

AmeriCorps Week, held March 13-19, was a wonderful celebration of all things national service. We loved seeing commissions and programs around the country honor their members and volunteers! View photos from Michael Smith's travels during AmeriCorps Week.

Training Series for New Commission Staff

In January and February, we offered three training series for new commission staff: an eight-part series for new program officers, a seven-part series for new fiscal officers, and an eight-part series for new executive directors. If you missed these training opportunities and feel they would be useful to you, contact Chad Driscoll for more information about accessing the recordings and materials.

Expanding Service Years Toolkit

Expanding Service Years in States and Local Communities

In January, Service Year Alliance, AmeriCorps, and ASC released an updated version of our toolkit entitled Expanding Service Years in States and Local Communities. The timely toolkit provides current case studies of how governors, state legislators, mayors, and municipal leaders rely on national service members and organizations to get things done.

President's FY23 Budget Released

Earlier this week, President Biden released his FY23 budget. If passed by Congress, the budget will include $1.34 billion for the AmeriCorps agency, a $189.3 million increase over FY22.

Afterschool Programs

Thanks to the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, ASC is offering grants to state service commissions, statewide afterschool networks, or their designee to provide match funding for afterschool programs that are currently or will be leveraging national service resources in their state. Apply by May 13.

Age-Integrated Service

Ready to age-integrate national service? We've got $25K grants for that!

If your organization has AmeriCorps funding and wants to create new intergenerational initiatives or significantly expand or deepen existing programs that unite older and younger to serve together, consider applying for Encore.org's Generations Serving Together grant. Apply by April 22.

About America’s Service Commissions (ASC)
