Action Alert: Thank Congress for Including National Service in the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021!
Dear Colleagues,
I am elated to tell you that today, March 10th, Congress approved President Biden's American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 and sent it to him for signature, including $1 billion in supplemental funds for the AmeriCorps Agency.
National service programs will benefit significantly from this historic investment, including the following line items:
- AMERICORPS STATE & NATIONAL — $620 MILLION
- STATE COMMISSIONS — $20 MILLION
- VOLUNTEER GENERATION FUND — $20 MILLION
- AMERICORPS VISTA — $80 MILLION
- NATIONAL SENIOR SERVICE CORPS — $30 MILLION
- ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS — $73 MILLION
- OFFICE OF INSPECTOR GENERAL — $9 MILLION
- NATIONAL SERVICE TRUST — $148 MILLION
This is one of the most significant developments in national service history.
To show our gratitude, America's Service Commissions and our States for Service Coalition are teaming up with Service Year Alliance to thank Congressional leaders and the CORPS Act Co-Sponsors for building bipartisan momentum for national service -- and ensuring that AmeriCorps and national service programs were included in this $1.9 trillion rescue bill as a "down payment" toward future passage of the CORPS Act.
We need your help to say thank you. Please take five minutes to take action and thank Congress for this historic investment in AmeriCorps and national service:
- Thank House and Senate Leadership for including a much-needed $1 billion to expand AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps Seniors, State Commissions, and the Volunteer Generation Fund in the American Rescue Plan Act.
- Thank Senator Coons (DE) and Representative Price (NC) for leading the effort to include the national service funding in the Rescue package.
- Thank the CORPS Act Co-Sponsors for their ongoing support and building the momentum we needed to make this happen - and show your support for them reintroducing the CORPS Act very soon!
Take action now & share with your networks.
Please take action as soon as possible, and no later than March 31st.
It takes 5 minutes or less to email and tweet.
Please share widely with your networks and friends, and share on Facebook and Twitter.
Thank you!
In service,
