CALL SCRIPT: “Hello, my name is ___________ and I am a constituent from TOWN. I am calling to ask the [Representative/Senator] to expand funding for national service programs like AmeriCorps and Senior Corps in the FY19 budget. Our goal is to expand AmeriCorps to 100,000 Americans in service each year and to increase funding for Senior Corps so more older Americans can use their skills and experience to make a difference in their communities. Thank you.” Campaign Information:The month of June is a critical time for national service appropriations. Over the next 2-3 weeks, Congress will be making important decisions about the future of funding for AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and the Volunteer Generation Fund. It's time for us to make sure they do the right thing. As you might remember, the administration has again proposed to eliminate the Corporation for National and Community Service, its programs, and state service commissions. But we aren’t going to let that happen. We need to remind Congress that our commissions and programs are vital to the communities they represent, cost effective and impactful, and enjoy strong bipartisan support. In fact, let’s ask them to strengthen and expand national service again this year just as Congress did in the recent FY18 budget bill.
We need to make sure Congress hears us loud and clear: it’s time to increase funding for AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, Volunteer Generation Fund and state service commissions.
