Announcing New Dates for the 2020 National Service Regional Training Conferences

We are thinking of all of our partners in service as we all adjust to the realities of practicing social distancing in response to COVID-19. We send a special thank you to the state service commissions, AmeriCorps programs, and AmeriCorps members who are serving our country during this global pandemic.

This message includes important announcements regarding changes to the 2020 regional national service training events. Please carefully review this email for information on your options for attending the 2020 regional training events.

As previously communicated, we have postponed the 2020 Pacific/Southwest event in Albuquerque, NM to July 27-29.

We are also now announcing the postponement of our 2020 Central event in Milwaukee, WI to August 24-26.

We have made the difficult decision to cancel the Atlantic/Southern training scheduled to take place June 2-4 in Burlington, VT and will instead plan to host the Atlantic/Southern event in Burlington in spring 2021.

For 2020, we plan to proceed with the following rescheduled events:

  • July 27-29 in Albuquerque, NM
  • August 24-26 in Milwaukee, WI

We know these changes impact all of you in a variety of ways and we are offering all registrants the following options:

Registration Options

For all of our registered attendees, we will offer you the following three options:

  1. Maintain your registration for our rescheduled dates. If you were already registered for the Albuquerque or Milwaukee event, we will automatically transfer your registration to the rescheduled dates. If this option works for you, you do not need to take any action related to your registration.
  2. Transfer your registration. To request transferring your registration to either the Albuquerque or Milwaukee event, please contact us by the registration deadline for each event.
  3. If the rescheduled event dates for Albuquerque and Milwaukee locations do not work for you, we will offer a full refund for those who request it by June 1.

Please allow us some time as we respond to requests and changes in the coming weeks.

Lodging Next Steps

Our official hotel partner, DF Meetings & Events, is working closely with ASC to facilitate automatic hotel cancellations made through our official hotel service. If you reserved your hotel room through our official reservation link (through DF Meetings & Events), your reservation will be cancelled automatically and without penalty. There is no need to email or call DF Meetings, the hotel, or your credit card company to cancel your reservation(s). The cancellation will be sent to the email provided at the time the reservation was made. No charges related to hotel room reservations have been incurred by any attendees who booked through our official block, nor will they be. We will be communicating information on re-booking hotel lodging with our updated group blocks for the rescheduled dates in Albuquerque and Milwaukee as soon as available.

If you booked your hotel room outside of our block, you will need to cancel your hotel on your own.

If you were traveling to the event via an airline, we encourage you to contact your airline as soon as possible to cancel or rebook your flight. While we believe most airlines are waiving change fees for a limited time, in the event a change or cancellation fee is charged this would be an allowable grant cost per the CNCS FAQs.

Financial Impact

We appreciate your flexibility and patience as we work to navigate this unprecedented public health challenge. We also humbly ask you to recognize the financial implications changing these events has on our organization. Ways you can help us offset these costs are by: 1) attending one of the rescheduled events and 2) booking your lodging through our hotel group blocks so we do not fall short of our contracted attrition requirements. We know this change may impact your organization as well. We encourage you to review the CNCS FAQs related to changes/cancellations in events here:

Please know we are working behind the scenes as quickly as possible to mitigate the impacts of the situation and communicate with everyone who has submitted questions or requests. We will continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 on these events on a case-by-case basis, ensuring we honor public health guidance and state government advisories for each event.

Please be on the lookout for further communications with additional information on registration and lodging blocks for the Albuquerque and Milwaukee events. We hope everyone stays safe, healthy, and prepared. Please continue to follow guidelines issued by public health officials.
